University Governing Boards Increasingly Keep Presidential Candidates Secretive

Updated: Mar 15

Inside Higher Ed's Judith Wilde reports on her research into university presidential searches. Along with the trend toward outsourcing the search to private search firms, universities are keeping the searches confidential and enlisting security services to do so. This in turn increases the prices of the presidential search itself. Here at NCA we see this as yet another cog helping the neoliberal university grind along, another excuse to securitize campuses, another misplacement of resources away from education and critical thought. SUVs with blacked-out windows? This is not what universities are (or should be?) about.
